Nokia – very human technology! (India)
Nokia has joined hands with World Wide Fund for Nature, (WWF), a wildlife conservation organisation, in India to save tigers. It has pledged to work with mobile phone consumers to help conserve the wildlife in the country.
Under this initiative, both parties will work together towards increasing awareness about the need for tiger conservation in the villages surrounding tiger reserves.
D. Shivakumar, Vice President and Managing Director, Nokia India, said, “The tiger population in India has seen an alarming decrease due to shrinking forest cover, and increased poaching. We have joined hands to spread awareness about this important cause.”
The WWF and Nokia will also work together to identify alternative livelihood programmes for villagers around national parks, with special focus on the Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan, famous for its tigers.
