Potential customers of iPhone have begun counting days, cellular operator Vodafone and Airtel are offering the customers a chance to own the device. As iPhone customers are expecting atleast one out of two operators going to agressively price iPhone. iPhone to be sold by Bharti Airtel would carry identical price tag as those by Essar Vodafone. Sources reveal that Vodafone declined to share details about handset bookings, though the response is very encouraging.
Vodafone which have started sending text messages, Airtel is sending e-mails to its pre-registered potential buyers regarding the availability of iPhone. It has also asked them to deposit an amount of Rs 5,000. Vodafone had asked its prospective customers to pay an advance of Rs 10,000 on August 20 and 21.
As there is no bundling of service in India, the customers do not get any subsidy so the customers have no choice but to stay with the respective operators, unless they change their handset. iPhone buyers too will face the same problem even as they pay prices which are many times more than that paid by the users in markets like the US.
