Vodafone brings two new and cheaper iPhone 3G plans (New Zealand)

Vodafone, after a violent consumer reaction to iPhone 3G pricing, has planned to release two new and cheaper plans.

The iPhone 3G, on it’s day of release on 11 July, two year contract cost up to $250 per month, with the device costing $199.
The potential consumers reacted aggressively to the prices of the phone in New Zealand, which costs $1129 for the 16GB version or $979 (8GB) to buy outright.

Paul Brislen, spokesman of Vodafone, has said that the plans have been put in place after customers demanded for a lower monthly cost but were satisfied with less talktime and lower text message limits, but similar levels of data.

The first plan costs $60 per month for a two year contractand will include 60 minutes of talktime, 200 text messages and 250MB of data. The subsidised handset costs $649 or $799 (8GB and 16GB models respectively).
The cheapest plan The cheapest plan will coat half of the current $80 minimum plans with the phone priced at $699 and $849. The plan is a mere 20 minutes of talktime, 100 SMS messages and 250MB of mobile data.

The changing of plans is possible but subscribers have to pay Viodafone for the handset and moving from one plan to another will cost an extra $100.
