NTT DoCoMo, Japan’s leading mobile operator, is still showing the possibility of offering Apple iPhone in Japan.
“It’s not that we’ve given up. We just want the right condition to sell it,” says Hiroshi Matsui, senior executive vice president of NTT DoCoMo.
According to WSJ, NTT DoCoMo was in talks with Apple, earlier this year so as to secure the rights to offer the popular iPhone in Japan but were won by the rival Softbank Corp.
NTT DoCoMo has also shown interest in investing in Vietnam’s telecom sector.
The exec says that the company has made no decision on it’s participation in MobiFone’s planned initial public offering.
“We don’t have any concrete decision on the IPO deal yet but Vietnam is an interesting market,” he said.
“We have no restrictions on where we’re going to expand. But we are looking for markets in Asia, close to Japan,” Matsui said.
