Asia leads the chart in terms of mobile growth!

China and India, the two world’s fastest growing markets for mobile services will persistently contribute in Asia’s strong growth. Currently, Asia pacific region has about 1.4 billion mobile phone subscribers, representing 42 percent of the global market. It is anticipated that it will exceed 50% within the next two years, an official said. India and China together comprises of about 900 million subscribers. With the introduction of smart phones and embedded laptops, operators are focusing on new ways to bolster value-added services.

Wang Jianzhou, chairman and CEO of China Mobile, the world’s biggest mobile carrier, said his company was banking on the development of new-generation wireless technologies such as Long-Term Evolution (LTE), which promises to speed up everything from mobile video sharing to music downloads. Jean-Pierre Bienaime, chairman of UMTS Forum, an organisation aimed to promote the uptake of advanced mobile technology, said, surely it is Asian operators who will be among the first to exploit the technological potential of LTE, translating it into real-world services, revenues and customer numbers.
