AT&T proclaimes the expansion of 3G wireless services in Rochester Area (USA)
US communications company AT&T IncĀ announced the expansion of the company’s third-generation (3G) high speed wireless network in the Rochester metro area. This expansion reportedly includes Walworth, Ontario Centre, Marion, Palmyra in Wayne county, as well as Victor, Bloomfield, Canandaigua, Holcomb, East and West Bloomfield, Farmington, Shortsville in Ontario county and southwest to Caledonia and Geneseo in Livingston county. The new 3G coverage will also benefit students at SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Brockport.
These enhancements reportedly complement AT&T’s existing 3G coverage in Rochester, Brighton, Irondequoit, East Rochester, Fairport, Greece, Gates Centre, North Gates, Pittsford and Webster.
AT&T said that this network expansion will give more customers in the greater Rochester area mobile broadband-like speeds and access to the latest interactive voice, video and data applications.
In addition AT&T has added new cell sites in the area including a site in Webster and at St. John Fisher College in Rochester this year.
AT&T’s 3G network is currently available in 320 US major metropolitan areas. The company plans to deliver 3G service to nearly 350 leading US markets by the end of 2008.
