Qualcomm asks for patent for mobile altitude measuring device (USA)
A new device to determine altitude of the mobile phone in any environment more accurately than GPS is invented by Qualcomm. A USA based pioneer of CDMA based mobile telephony, Qualcomm have submitted a patent application in the country for its recent creation. In its application, the company asserted that the present invention can trace the altitude of mobile phone in any environment by using information from dead reckoning sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes and geomagnetic sensors. This device is developed by by Thomas G Wolf of Qualcomm and has already gained the patent from Geneva-based UN agency World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) for this invention.
