Movistar inks mobile concession contract with Senatel
Movistar has inked new concession contract with Ecuador’s National Telecommunications Secretariat (Senatel) for the provision of advanced mobile services across the country. The agreement is of 15 year, with a value of the concession rights estimated to reach USD 203 million. The concession granted by the Ecuadorian state covers the provision of advanced mobile services for a period of 15 years, starting with 30 November. The essential frequencies of 25 MHz in the 850 MHz band and 10 MHz in the 1900 band are covered in concession. Under this agreement, Movistar will have to pay an initial down payment of USD 60 million at 30 November, followed by an additional amount of EUR 30 million to be paid within a year and payments indexed to the annual income of the operator during the 15-year concession.
