Turkcell grabs 3G licence in Turkey

Turkcell, Turkey’s leading mobile operator grabs the 3G licence in the country. Turkcell offered $462 million for an A-type 3G mobile phone license, the highest bandwidth out of four auctioned, leaving behind its rivals Avea and Vodafone. Vodafone and Avea won the lower bandwiths worth $320.67 million and $274.39 million respectively. Turkcell reports to start its 3G operation by mid-2009.
