Telus to buy technology from Nortel (Canada)

Canada’s second ranked telco, Telus, said, it is buying new technology from Nortel Networks Corp that lets telecom companies quadruple the capacity of their networks. This technology delivers speeds of 40 gigabits per second (Gbps), four times faster than today’s high-end networking speeds. Financial details are not yet revealed. With the ever-growing demand of bandwidth, driven by the popularity of online video, music and gaming, telcos are finding options to increase traffic on their network.
