Sercomtel Celular launches 3G/3.5G services (Brazil)
The Brazilian operator Sercomtel Celular has launched the 3G and 3.5G services in Londrina. The operator’s new network will provide service in the 850MHz band and will utilise HSPA technology to deliver a theoretical maximum data throughput of 14.4Mbps (download) and 5.7Mbps (upload). Five plans in all are offered with speeds ranging from 250kbps for $39.90/month, rising to $119.90/month for a 2Mbps service. Sercomtel comes up with a promotion that will last until 10 June’09 under which people signing up will be given an unrestricted data cap. Sercomtel is also offering a 3G phone option based on six tariff plans for 30 minutes – 600 minutes/month with monthly rental prices starting at $49.90.
