Is Blyk in trouble? (UK)

Blyk, the free, ad-supported mobile network which came into being a year earlier, proposes a changed top-up system of £15 free a month, instead of the old text and calls allowance, which offered 217 texts, and 43 minutes each month, in return for receiving up to 6 brand text messages each day. The proposed change has not been accepted by Blyk members as they file several petitions and post forums. Blyk’s statement, You asked, Blyk listened” worked as fuel to the fire. Moreover, Blyk has reportedly increased its calling tariffs to 2p per minute, though the text tariffs have gone down by 8p.

All this is being seen as an outcome of Global recession, where in Blyk doesn’t find itself financially secure. Looking at the present scenario, future of Blyk could be in trouble.

We at Wireless Federation are a big fan of Blyk’s services and hope that this is only a tweak to further the business.
