AT&T outlines plan for Delaware Wireless Network investments in 2009 (USA)
To address the growing demand for advanced wireless data products and services, such as the BlackBerry(R) Bold(TM) and the LG VU(TM), AT&T unveiled its network expansion plans for Delaware in the coming year. AT&T plans to roll out its third generation (3G) mobile broadband network in new communities in the First State including many areas in Sussex County.
This year’s 3G expansions build upon AT&T’s overall technology investment in the state. From 2006 to 2008, AT&T’s capital investment in Delaware was more than $14 million.
AT&T’s 3G wireless network is available in nearly 350 major metropolitan areas in the U.S. and ranked as the nation’s fastest according to recent data compiled by leading independent research firms. By continuing to expand its 3G wireless footprint in Delaware, AT&T is offering more consumers and businesses broadband-like speed and access to the latest interactive voice, video and data applications.
“We’re committed to delivering dependable high speed wireless access in more places across Delaware for consumers and business customers who need to stay connected to work, family and friends,” said J. Michael Schweder, President, AT&T Mid-Atlantic Region. “We will continue to invest in our statewide technology infrastructure to ensure that customers in Delaware have the latest in wireless technology available.”
The 2009 plan builds on the AT&T’s 2008 investment, which added 3G service to over 20 cell sites across the state, bringing wireless broadband capability to new areas including Rehoboth Beach, Fenwick Island, Dover, Smyrna and Clayton.
“Providing a diverse lineup of cutting-edge wireless devices that take advantage of our network investment is a constant priority, as our customers demand and deserve the best that the industry has to offer,” said Dan Lafond, Vice President and General Manager for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets in Delaware.
AT&T operates seven AT&T-owned retail locations in Delaware. AT&T’s products and services are also available at a number of other authorized dealers and national retail locations.
