True Move launches mobile web portal (Thailand)

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: True Move the Thai incumbent has expanded its mobile content offerings to a converged multimedia service through different technology channels and devices, as it launches a new mobile portal m.truelife.com. True Move, is also reportedly offering a new service charge platform for GPRS and Edge airtime by based on material downloaded at a price of THB 1 per minute. Adhiruth Thothaveesansuk, MD of True said the per-minute tariff base is expected to increase average data revenue/user by 10-15%, from THB 30 per user/month currently.
The new web portal will upgrade the subscribers for its GPRS and Edge services by 50% to a combined 3 million this year. Piroon Paireepairit, Director for Multimedia Business, said the company’s focus this year will be in convergence-led services including content, network and device convergence.
The web portal offers multimedia content, allowing users to access the group’s content services and others through GPRS, Edge, Wi-Fi and 3G systems. Services include mobile television, video streaming, song downloads, online games and financial transactions on mobile phones. The companies are on the verge of developing applications and contents for iPhones in the near future. True Move also has plans to offer TrueVisions pay-TV programmes on customers’ mobile phones sooner.
