Canada’s mobile penetration remains stable-study

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: According to a study, Canadians continue to lag behind citizens of other G8 countries and even several developing economies in terms of owning and using mobile phones. The study was conducted in 32 countries which represents that Canada’s level of mobile penetration has remained stable, with 70% of Canadians aged 16-60 claiming ownership.

The report further unveils that the existing mobile phone subscribers are reluctant to spend more money on their next handset than the amount that they spent on their current one. On average, Canadians are willing to spend US$ 114 on their next mobile phone, the second lowest of all countries included in the study. The mobile phone users in Pakistan exhibit a more frugal attitude (USD 69). The users in the Middle East and South East Asian markets intend to pay more than US$ 400 on their next handset.

Further the study adds that over the past year, the penetration of smartphones has nearly doubled from 12% to 21% in Canada.
