www.WirelessFederation.com/news:Starcomms, mobile operator based in Nigeria has reported a net loss of NGN 8.008 billion for 2008. However, the firm’s turnover for this period has grown by 80.30% from NGN 19.135 billion in 2007. The net loss is attributed to unrealised foreign exchange losses of NGN 3.641 billion. The other negative factors which are held responsible for loss are an increased level of subsidies to subscribers, discounts to dealers and increased operating costs. Starcomms posted a net loss of NGN 3.541 billion in Q1′09 against a loss of NGN 538.19 million in the corresponding period of 2008. The turnover of NGN 8.522 billion was up 15.13% in comparison to NGN 7.402 billion in 2007.
