BT offers lucrative mobile broadband packages (UK)

According to BT, in some areas, subscribers will get 8Mb wireless broadband at home and up to 7.2Mb over the HSDPA network when they are away from home. The USB modem also works over the 3G network, which is reckoned to cover 80 per cent of the UK. It is priced at an additional £50. This also entails membership of the BT FON and WiFi minutes at BT Openzone. According to BT, the lowest-cost package adds up to £308.08 over 18 months. It claims the same deal with Orange would cost £528.48 and Virgin would charge £435.00.

According to John Petter, Managing Director of BT’s Consumer division, broadband for 56p a day is “a no-brainer”.
