Airtel tops the GSM mobile market chart again in April (India)
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Bharti Airtel, leading mobile operator of India, has retained its position as the market leader with 96.735 million GSM subscribers or 32.44% of the market in April, up from 93.923 million in March, according to figures from the industry association COAI. As per the statistics, Vodafone subscriber base has grown to 71.542 million from 68.769 million, taking its market share to 24%. BSNL bags third position with 47.724 million GSM subscribers, up from 46.684 million, while Idea Cellular grew to 44.174 million from 43.022 million a month earlier. Aircel ended April with 19.585 million subscribers or 6.57 percent of the market, while Reliance Telecom grew its GSM base to 11.965 million from 11.550 million in April. MTNL subscriber base has gown to 4.222 million subscribers, while Loop Mobile, who operates only in Mumbai, saw its subscriber’s base reach 2.204 million in April. In a nutshell, the subscriber base of the country reaches 298.153 billion in April.
