Telecom NZ sees 700% growth in number of subscribers using Facebook on mobile

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Telecom New Zealand has reported seen a growth of 700% in the number of subscribers using Facebook on their mobile since January’09. The time when the operator launched its XT Network, it also launched Facebook text notifications which included new messages, friends’ status updates or friend requests. This service also allows subscribers to update their status, search for phone numbers, or upload photos and videos from their mobile phone. Since the launch of XT, nearly 2,500 Telecom subscribers are using Facebook messaging every day.
The operator also introduced Twitter updates via SMS. Receiving updates from these social networking sites is free of cost.
