www.WirelessFederation.com/news: The Indian Finance Ministry and Telecommunication Ministry have arrived at a consensus for the reserve price of the 3G license, which is Rs 4040 crore, based on which the bidding will take place.
Initially, 6 mobile operators apart from state owned BSNL and MTNL will be allowed to offer 3G services across the nation.
According to a source, the development on the issue just needs a fine-tuning by the Minister after which the programme of bidding will be revealed.
A.Raja, the Indian Telecoms Minister had earlier suggested the Finance Ministry of doubling the reserve price of the 3G licence from Rs 2020 crore being favoured by Department of Telecom and hence the two ministries had got engaged in a discussion for consensus.
While the government would get at least Rs 24,240 crore from six operators that are chosen after the bids, MTNL and BSNL would shell out another Rs 8,080 crore, source said.
