Telenor, Alfa consider merger for VimpelCom, Kyivstar, says report

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Telenor and  Russian industrial investor Alfa Group are reportedly looking at merging Russian mobile operator VimpelCom with Ukrainian operator Kyvistar.  Altimo and Telenor would each hold 40% in the combined company. One of Telenor’s requirements in the deal is to register the JV in the US and also to name the JV’s manager, as the Norwegians want to protect themselves from hostile action.
