NHH, the Hungarian communication authority, has fined the nation’s second largest mobile operator Magyar Telekom, for levying high penalties on customers who canceled or modified fixed-term contracts. NHH levied a fine of 100 million forints ($511,000) on Magyar Telekom.
“The investigation proved that Magyar Telekom made it disproportionately difficult for its customers to change providers and make use of intermediary providers and thus it had limited competition,” the NHH said in a statement.
NHH has ordered the operator to amend the contract within one month’s time.
Magyar will reportedly appeal against the regulators decision.
