NTT DoCoMo acquires 35% stake in VideoPacket for $45.5Mn (Japan)

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: NTT DoCoMo, the Japanese mobile operator, has purchased a 35% stake in NextWave Wireless Inc’s software unit PacketVideo for $45.5 million to boost its music and video services.
DoCoMo is now stregthening its content services to lead the market in a competitive and saturated market. DoCoMo aims to secure its partnership with PacketVideo, which already supplies the carrier with software to replay music and videos, ahead of the planned launch of its next-generation “Long Term Evolution” (LTE) services in December next year.
