Oi announces stock restructuring plan (Brazil)
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Oi has announced a stock restructuring targeted at simplifying ownership following the acquisition of rival Brasil Telecom Participacoes SA. Following the conclusion of the public offering for Brasil Telecom voting shares, Oi will collapse the wholly owned subsidiaries Copart 1, Copart 2 Invitel and Solpart into Coari, which is controlled by Telemer Participacoes.
In 20008, Oi announced the acquisition of a controlling stake in rival operator Brasil Telecom for 5.37 billion Brazilian reals ($2.7 billion). Although, Oi still awaits an approval from anti-trust regulators to merge share structure and operations.
