Zamtel sale plans decision are final says Lungwangwa (Zambia)
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Zambia’s communications and transport minister Geoffrey Lungwangwa has reportedly stated that the government’s decision to sell Zambia Telecommunications Company (Zamtel) will not be overturned. This affirmation comes after calls from opposition parties that the state should rethink plans to sell a 75% stake in the operator, with Patriotic Front (PF) President Michael Sata claiming that the sale is not in the public interest. Sata said that the government should reconsider decreasing the level of holding it plans to divest, arguing that the sale will not help to recapitalise the telco, even if a 75% stake is sold.
