Zain Bahrain announces investment in LTE technology network upgrade

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Zain Bahrain, the Kingdom’s leading telecoms operator has announced one of the most ambitious technology upgrades that will ‘future proof’ the company which is already a clear technology leader.

Announcing the awarding of a Network Upgrade contract to Nokia Siemens Networks, Zain Bahrain Chairman Shaikh Ahmed Bin Ali Abdulla Al Khalifa said the upgrade would enable Zain Bahrain to serve more customers, improve its nation-wide coverage and deliver better products and services to its growing customer base.

‘This investment in one of the most extensive technological upgrades is a clear indication of Zain Bahrain’s commitment to the Kingdom and our leadership in the telecoms sector.’Shaikh Ahmed said.

‘For the Zain Group, Bahrain is an innovations hub and the centre for HR excellence.’he added.

This Long Term Evolution (LTE) project is a first for the region, whereby the Zain Bahrain network will be completely modernized by Nokia Siemens Networks so that our customers can soon enjoy faster data downloads and an overall enhanced mobile customer experience and make the company ‘future proof’.’

Shaikh Ahmed pointed out that Zain Bahrain has invested not only in telecoms technology upgrade and HR training and development but also in community CSR initiatives for projects ranging from a state-of-the-art e-learning centre for University of Bahrain students to support for sports, education initiatives and for the disabled.

‘We have achieved many firsts in the telecoms sector from our Bahrain base, such as the first borderless ‘local’ One Network service across 13 countries in the MENA region, nation-wide WiMax and our growing fixed wireless services,’ he said: ‘But we are proudest of our Bahraini team which is made up of 90% Bahraini nationals who have shown extraordinary passion and commitment to making Zain Bahrain the top telecoms company that it is today.’

He concluded: ‘In Bahrain we are today the acknowledged leaders in mobile telephony technology We believe that our presence adds value and raises quality of life across society.’

Meanwhile, a Zain Bahrain spokesperson said that Zain Bahrain will shortly be calling a press conference to announce the full details of this exciting network upgrade.
