www.WirelessFederation.com/news: According to the Mauritius government's statistics office, the mobile subscriber base of the country has surpassed the 1 million mark and reached 1,033,300 at 2008-end, up 11.3% from 928,600 in 2007. The prepaid subscriber base grew by 1.3% and accounted for 969,800 subscribers where as the postpaid subscriber base increased by 11.0% to 63,500 in 2008. Mobile density in Mauritius rose by 10.6% reaching 81.2 per 100 inhabitants in 2008 from 73.4 in 2007. The mobile coverage, at the end of 2008 stood at 99%.
