Telekom Networks Malawi’s launches W-CDMA network

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Telekom Networks Malawi’s (TNM) subscribers can now access services such as video calling, mobile TV and high speed internet offering download speeds of up to 3.6Mbps as the Malawian telecoms operator has launched its W-CDMA/HSDPA network.

Initially the service will be available only to the post-paid subscribers but pre-paid customers will soon have access to the service. According to Charles Kamoto, head of TNM’s Commercial Services division, 3.5G technology is launched in order to provide top-notch services to its customers in Malawi.

With a market share of 32% till September 30 2009, TNM is Malawi’s second largest cellco by subscribers. Zain Malawi is the only competitor of the company with 68% share of customers.
