Verizon Wireless signs NFL sponsorship agreement (USA)
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: A four-year sponsorship agreement has been announced by telecom operator, Verizon Wireless with the National Football League. As per the agreement, a wealth of NFL content highlighted by live streaming coverage of NBC’s marquee Sunday Night Football broadcast will be served to the subscribers.
Verizon Wireless has become the official wireless service sponsor of NFL, replacing Sprint besides becoming the league’s exclusive mobile media partner. Sprint has prominently featured the NFL in its advertising efforts in recent years.
The value of the deal is estimated to be $720 million which also includes rights fee and advertising spending. Earlier, Sprint package was valued at $120 million. The deal kicks off the mobile coverage of the 2010 NFL Draft, beginning April 22, this season. NFL Network’s NFL RedZone channel will be introduced to mobile. Live look-ins of every touchdown and signature play from the Sunday afternoon games will also be supplied.
NFL Network’s own Thursday Night Football matchups will also be broadcasted by Verizon with the cable channel’s related football programming airing live 24/7/365.
On-demand video and analysis from the NFL Network and NFL Films, fantasy information, news and statistics, and customizable alerts, ringtones and graphics will also be included in Verizon’s NFL Mobile package.
Prior to the start of the regular NFL season, the information regarding the specific handsets and pricing will be announced by Verizon in August.
