Italian telco Wind reports 4.9% rise in Q4 revenue

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: 4.9% increase in the fourth quarter revenues of the Italian operator Wind has been announced which reached up to EUR 1.496 billion while the service revenue of the company rose 5.9 percent year-on-year to EUR 1.413 billion and EBITDA increased 4.7 percent over the same period of 2008 to EUR 526 million, with a 35.2 percent margin.

4.7 percent increase in the revenue has also been posted by Wind for the full year which closed at EUR 5.726 billion and with 2.7 percent rise, the EBITDA reached EUR 2.064 billion. The profitable result has been attributed to the strong top-line performance along with cost control. However, the increase in ULL and WLR fees had some negative impact.

Due to higher taxes and interest expenses, the net profit of the company down from the EUR 385 million recorded in 2008 to EUR 308 million for 2009. The net debt of the company stood at EUR 8.541 billion at the end of December 31, 2009. The rise in the net debt is the result of the issue of EUR 2.7 billion senior notes in July 2009, which resulted in an increase in net debt to 4.1 times EBITDA from an organic level of 2.7.
