Telstra continues talks with govt on NBN deal (Australia)

www.WirelessFederation.com/news: Telstra’s deal on Canberra’s planned A$43 billion national broadband network has been described as “achievable” by the operator’s Chief Executive David Thodey and constructive talks with the government and NBN Co is in the process. Thodey also denied entry into any deal that didn’t make financial sense for its shareholders.

According to Communications Minister Stephen Conroy, he wants a conclusion of the months-long talks between Telstra, the government and NBN Co. the company set up by Canberra to build the planned new network by the end of June.

Thodey on the other hand has described the negotiation as highly complex and detailed besides understanding that the government has got to move on. He also acknowledged that there is a need for resolution by the government. The network, which will deliver high speed broadband across the nation, was one of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s key election promises.
