Verizon, DTL reach agreement in patent litigation (USA)
www.WirelessFederation.com/news: General Patent Corporation (GPC), a patent licensing firm and Verizon Wireless have reached an agreement regarding three disputed patents. Digital Technology Licensing (DTL), GPC’s subsidiary company reached the agreement.
U.S. Patent No. 5,051,799 (the ’799 Patent) titled “Digital Output Transducer is owned by DTL which is a technology covered by the ’799 Patent addresses Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) codec and other cellular communication standards. It allows backward compatibility of cell phone handsets and base stations and also has applications in Bluetooth and other wireless devices.
Two patent infringement lawsuits had been filed by DTL covering cellular service applications of the ’799 Patent. It also filed a third patent infringement lawsuit that covered Bluetooth applications of the ’799 Patent. Verizon Wireless and DTL agreed to a settlement of all lawsuits after five years in patent litigation.
