Hong Kong-based telecommunications operator Hutchison Telecommunications International announced that its Indian mobile subsidiary Hutchison Essar has received Letters of Intent (LoI) from the Indian Department of Telecommunications (DOT) for licences to provide mobile services in the six licence areas of North East, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, Assam, and Jammu and Kashmir. A LoI from the DOT is its offer to issue a licence upon the applicant’s acceptance and payment of the relevant fees. Hutchison Essar expects to launch in these licence areas during 2007.
