Korean operator KT has released forecasts for this year and the mid-term, including investments in nationwide FTTH coverage. At a news conference, CEO Joong-Soo Nam forecast fiscal 2007 sales of KRW 11.9 trillion, up slightly on a year earlier thanks to growth in 3G and its WiBro service. Capital expenditure for the year is set at KRW 2.8 trillion, including KRW 690 billion for the media business, of which KRW 400 billion for FTTH, KRW 140 billion for IPTV and KRW 150 billion for content. WiBro spending for the year will be worth KRW 240 billion. Through 2010, KT plans to invest KRW 1.2 trillion to take FTTH across the country. The operator also announced plans to reorganise its operations into four divisions: digital entertainment, convenience solution, business solution and advanced telecom services, and create a “knowledge society fund” worth KRW 100 billion. Further details on the FY 2007 outlook will be announced with the company’s fourth-quarter results.
