3i, private equity and venture capital company, has acquired 25 percent of the shares of Finnet (to be renamed DNA), Finnish mobile operator, for EUR 140 million. 3i’s stake will become 13 percent after the anticipated merger of five local operators and DNA. The shares have been acquired from 18 local telecommunications operators in the Finnet Group. DNA is one of the largest telecommunications operators in Finland, with 1.07 million mobile subscribers. DNA will offer mobile, fixed line, broadband and cable TV services following the merger. Following the acquisition, there will be no impact on DNA’s employees or operations.
