Messaging services provider 4INFO announced the launch of what it calls the industry’s first marketplace for SMS advertising. The 4INFO Advertising Marketplace platform will enable marketers to include targeted advertising within SMS content from 4INFO’s mobile services as well as partners including USA Today, Spark Networks and TV Guide. The web-based platform also promises advertisers and marketers independent management of mobile advertising campaigns, enabling them to control costs through bidding on desired advertising inventory, efficiently change and update advertising messages and track consumer response via real-time reporting.

“What we’re seeing today in the mobile advertising environment is probably the biggest land grab since search engines began battling it out in the 1990s,” said 4INFO CEO Zaw Thet in a prepared statement. “Now marketers can be the first to take advantage of our SMS/text advertising inventory to get their messages in front of a very receptive audience.”
