O2 Ups uiOne Usage
WirelessWeek writes…European wireless network operator O2 has agreed to add more handsets to its product portfolio that are based on Qualcomm’s uiOne platform over the next 12-18 months.
Since its first uiOne-based device (the O2 Ice) hit the market last September and generated solid support from customers, O2 plans to expand the user interface (UI) to more of its mobile phones.
uiOne helps create and deploy customized UIs and content. Using the uiOne framework lets O2 create a consistent user experience across a range of its own O2 branded devices, which it has found drives service usage. In expanding the uiOne-enabled mobile phones in its lineup, O2 hopes to further increase usage and satisfaction with its products.
“Providing our subscribers a unique, personalized experience while maintaining the value of our brand are paramount goals for O2,” said Ian Clarke, head of devices, O2 UK and president, O2 Asia.
