BT to launch in summer as MVNO in Spain

Telecompaper writes…BT Spain is to launch as a virtual mobile operator, after signing a deal with Vodafone to use its network. In a statement, the company said it would target businesses and the public sector. Services would be available in the summer, said the British operator which specialises in businesses in Spain. BT said it would offer “value-added mobility services” such as mobile video-telephony, audio/video streaming services, location based services or fixed-mobile convergence services. BT believes it has a potential mobile market of 800,000 to 1 million mobile lines, reports Cinco Dias. Speaking after the announcement, BT Spain head Luiz Alvarez said he believed there was up to a million potential mobile deals to be made. Its strategy would be to tap into the market potential of the 30,000 small-and-medium-sized businesses and the 2,000 large companies and institutions which BT already has on its books as fixed and internet customers.
