iPhone Fever Hits

Lines are forming in front of Apple stores and AT&T retail outlets, in charged expectation for the release of the iPhone. The much-hyped handset goes on sale today at 6 p.m. local time.

Six months after the phone was announced, tech fans are still in a frenzy to get their hands on one. Lines began forming in front of stores yesterday evening, more than 24 hours before the phone will actually be on sale.

Apple and exclusive carrier AT&T hope the hype lasts beyond the release date, while critics are holding their breath, hoping for the buzz to die down.
