Alcatel-Lucent wins USD 400 mln contract from Reliance (India)

Indian mobile operator Reliance Communications has awarded a contract worth USD 400 million to Alcatel-Lucent to expand its CDMA and GSM networks. The deal will help Reliance expand its mobile network coverage to more than 20,000 towns and 600,000 villages. Alcatel-Lucent will upgrade Reliance’s CDMA and GSM network with additional mobile switching centers and base stations, as well as provide network integration services. Earlier Reliance said that it was also talking to Huawei and ZTE on equipment for the network expansion.
