MFD, NEVA Media form jv for DVB-H-based mobile TV (Germany)
German mobile TV operator MFD and NEVA Media have set up a joint venture for mobile TV services in Germany. The former competitors plan to launch DVB-H-based mobile TV services in 2008. Both parties have applied for such a licence at the state media authorities, which are expected to unveil the licence holders before the end of this year. MFD already has a nation-wide licence to provide mobile TV services via the DMB standard. The shareholders of both companies have approved the jv and will be able to provide technology and content expertise as they are German publishers Hubert Burda Media and Holtzbrinck (NEVA Media) and South Africa-based media and technology company Naspers (MFD).
