AT&T has agreed to acquire 12 MHz of spectrum in the US for USD 2.5 billion. It will buy the frequencies in the 700 MHz band from investment firm Aloha Partners. The spectrum covers some 196 million people in 281 markets, including 72 of the top 100 and all of the top 10 markets in the US. AT&T expects to get necessary government approvals to close the transaction within 6-9 months.
