Research In Motion (RIM) has gained approval from the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry to sell its Blackberry devices inside the very lucrative Chinese market. China is one of the largest mobile handset markets, already with more than 500 million subscribers, meaning RIM has opened up a huge opportunity for itself.
RIM has been trying to get its devices into the Chinese market since registering the Blackberry trademark in China back in 1999. The eight-year wait seems to be worth the effort though, with the RIM manager in Beijing has confirmed the company has received 5000 advance orders for the Blackberry 8700g, which will go on sale in China in August for the equivalent of US$700.
