On 24 May, Telstra will launch the first pre-paid mobiles on its Next G 3G mobile network. With the launch, customers will gain cost-controlled access to Next G and receive advanced applications including video calling, BigPond Music, Foxtel by Mobile and Sensis Search. Foxtel by Mobile will offer 16 channels, covering news, sport, documentaries and children’s programs. BigPond Mobile will offer entertainment, news, and exclusive updates from the AFL, NRL, and V8 Super cars. The new service will also offer downloadable music tracks, photos and games; advanced Sensis search services such as CitySearch, WhereIs, and Trading Post; e-mail access; and video calling. Telstra Next G Pre-Paid customers can choose from one of two handsets, the LG TU500 retailing for AUD 299 or the Telstra 256 for AUD 249. Telstra will also stop selling CDMA pre-paid handsets as of 24 May. Next G Pre-Paid customers can also choose from one of five Browse Plus Packs.
