 Capcom releases Resident Evil for mobile

Capcom has released Resident Evil The Missions for mobile handsets across Europe.

The game is based on the third title in the popular series – Resident Evil: Nemesis, and offers over fifty missions and the return of fan-favourite characters Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira.

The game has been released to capitalise on the success of last week’s Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, currently sitting at number 4 in the Chart Track weekly console charts.

 Capcom Bets on Mobile, Online Games For Growth

Capcom CEO Tsujimoto Kenzo has told  that he expects online and mobile games to “[contribute] to the company’s expected sales tripling by 2010 and to increase five- to six-fold by 2012″. “Outlining the strategy for global expansion more clearly, Tsujimoto said: “First we have to cross our boundaries regarding mobile and PC games. After that, we will switch over to a full-blown expansion.”…In line with this strategy Capcom acquired the Canadian company Cosmic Infinity, a move which a catapulted Capcom’s mobile games division from the 60th rank in that field to the tenth biggest mobile games developer worldwide.

 Capcom Interactive, Inc. and Virgin Mobile USA Partner on Games Lite Channel

Digital50 writes…Capcom Interactive, Inc. and Virgin Mobile USA have entered into a strategic agreement where Capcom Interactive is the sole aggregator and manager of WAP game titles on Virgin Mobile’s wireless network. Capcom games currently available on Virgin Mobile’s Games Lite channel include massively multiplayer role playing game Shade(TM), Big Trivia(TM), Cosmic Casino(TM), perennial favorite Who Wants To Be A Millionaire(R), Six Degrees(TM), Dope Warz(TM) and Bots. Additional games are to be added to the offering in the coming future.
“We are proud to partner with Virgin Mobile to bring our extensive library of WAP games to their network,” said Midori Yuasa, president, Capcom Interactive, Inc. “This mutually beneficial relationship further illustrates our commitment to the space and demonstrates the length to which Capcom will go to provide value to our partners.”

In addition, for the months of March and April 2007, Capcom Interactive and Virgin Mobile USA will be offering consumers a chance to win Xbox 360s and Apple iPods. Four Grand Prize winners and eight First Prize winners will be selected in each month’s drawing.
