World’s top four games publishers are tapping the ever bigger share of the market for mobile games. EA Mobile, Gameloft, Glu and THQ Wireless have seen their global market shares increase from 11 per cent to 22 per cent in 2007 and the figure is rising, particularly in Western Europe. On 31 March 2008, Gameloft reportedly earned $40m, only $1m less than EA Mobile. Gameloft has created strong company growth, by focusing on increasing its catalogues and producing good quality tiles.
Analyst anticipates that Gameloft to usurp EA’s leadership position during the remainder of 2008 and then to retain its position as the leading mobile games publisher for the foreseeable future. Gameloft palns to conquer all-important US market, where revenue shares are better.

JumpTap has launched a mobile search and advertising solution for Telefónica, serving contextual banner ads on the home page and throughout the content verticals on the operator’s movistar emoción portal as well as delivering sponsored search links within the Games, Images and Music channels.
During their first months of collaboration, JumpTap twice sold out Telefónica’s entire display advertising inventory. Big name advertisers such as Sony Ericsson, Warner Music, Gameloft, Vivendi Games Mobile, Coca-Cola, Buongiorno, Terra, Barclays Bank, PrisaCom and BMW are amongst the first advertisers to launch mobile campaigns on this new medium.
“As the leader in the market, it was essential we deployed a search and advertising solution that would enhance the user experience without being intrusive. The mobile screen is too small to make mistakes,” said Susana Rodriguez, Director of Online and M-Commerce at Telefónica.
“This move will undoubtedly be commercially beneficial for advertisers who now have access to a new, young demographic on the most interactive and personal medium we have seen to-date,” said Dan Olschwang, President and CEO of JumpTap.

Mobile Entertainment Magazine reports that The British Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association (ELSPA) has announced an agreement to streamline mobile game publishing along operators.
In agreement with EA Mobile, Gameloft, Glu and I-Play, mobile games will now be released on all UK operators at the same day. This is the same tactic which console/PC publishers apply where they release games in big territories at the same day. This should improve communications toward consumers as they will know when a game is available without caring on what network they are.
One question is raised though… Did all operators agree to approve to put the same games online? If so, this will slim down chances for smaller publishers to get deck placement in the UK even more.
Anyway, the first mobile games to receive this treatment are Glu’s Transformers, Gameloft’s Guitar Hero Legend and EA’s FIFA 08.

MobileGames writes…Gameloft keeps reaching further to get control over their consumers. Today, Admoda announced they have inked down a deal with Gameloft to advertise Gameloft’s games along the network of wap sites which are being hosted by Admoda. Admoda’s technology is similar to that of Mads.com and allows specific demographic and device targeting, meaning Gameloft only advertises to the consumers they really want to have. Currently Admoda serves 400 million wap banner impressions a month.
