BSNL reported to expand its IPTV offerings to 98 cities by the end of November. The telco is planning to appoint franchisees to launch the service and has already agreed deals with five companies; Aksh Optifibre, Smart Digivision Pvt, IOL Broadband, Times Broadband and Maharashtra Knowledge Company (MKCL). It is anticipated that BSNL will face tough competition in the IPTV market from operators like HFCL Infotel and Reliance Communications (RCOM). As RCOM and HFCL infotel plans commercial launch by the end of 2008.
