 Nokia Siemens to vend its 51% stake in Dasan Network (South Korea)

Nokia Siemens has approved to sell its stake in Dasan Networks. Dasan Invest, Dasan TPS, Skylake and certain individual Korean investors will acquire all of Nokia Siemens 56.13 percent stake in Dasan Networks, giving the Korean investors 60.83 percent of the shares of the company. The remaining shares are held by various shareholders. This agreement enables Dasan Networks to act as an independent provider of networking services selling its products through direct sales channels in its core markets of Korea and Japan and to continue its collaboration with Nokia Siemens Networks in other markets. Nokia Siemens is planning to continue its close cooperation with Dasan Network through an original equipment manufacturer and original design manufacturer agreement.

 NSN to power China Mobile net expansion (China)

China Mobile has entered into a frame agreement with Nokia Siemens Networks to deliver its network expansion project.

Under the contract Nokia Siemens Networks will design, build, maintain and optimize the radio and core network for China Mobile, which will include the energy efficient Flexi base station, mobile softswitching and OSS in provinces and cities across China.
 
The framework is designed to enable China Mobile to increase its network capacity, while controlling capital and operating expenditure. The contract is valued at €550 million.

India’s One97 Communications plans to set up a 3G telecom and technology laboratory in cooperation with Hewlett-Packard. One97 said the research lab is powered by HP’s solutions which enable deployment of next-gen voice and video messaging, portals and enhanced interactive services.

Nokia Siemens Networks wins a GSM network expansion and services contract with Heilongjiang MCC. Under the deal, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide GSM base stations and base station controllers to Heilongjiang.

UTStarcom secures a deal to provide IPTV solutions to digital video firm Optibase. UTStarcom will integrate Optibase’s IPTV encoding platforms with its own IPTV solutions, which will then be deployed in India.

   
 

 Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks Prepare for Growth of Telecommunications in Africa at CTO Roundtable

Telecommunications Technology will in the Coming Years Have a
Profound Impact on Many Societies in Africa, Contributing Largely to the
Economic Growth and Wealth of Millions of People on the Continent.
This Development, and Issues Related to the Regulatory Environment
Supporting the Foreseen Growth, will be the Major Themes of the
Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation’s (CTO) European-African
Telecommunications Roundtable in Helsinki and Bonn, a Meeting That Will
Bring Together Leading Decision Makers From Africa, Europe and the Telecoms
Industry
   

 The CTO meeting will assemble high-level telecommunications officials
from the organisation’s African member countries, with participants
representing communications ministries and regulators from Ghana, Kenya,
Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda. Officials
from Finnish and German government and industry will also take part.
   

 The roundtable is built around themes including the telecommunications
ecosystem: the socio-economic impact of information and communication
technology (ICT) and telecommunications, case studies from countries
including Finland, and how similar development can be encouraged in New
Growth Markets; and Europe-Africa cooperation, including European ICT
initiatives in Africa and project financing.
  

  Nokia Siemens Networks and Nokia are playing a key role in the meeting,
contributing speakers and engaging in the dialogue that aims to increase
understanding between the two continents, initiate concrete projects and
lay the foundation for future discussions.

The CTO European/African Telecommunications Roundtable will run from
May 28-31 in Helsinki, and then continues until June 1 in Bonn.
