The Australian Digital Suppliers Industry Forum (ADSIF), which is represented on federal Government committees determining how we switch off analogue TV, has created a sub-group known as the Mobile Broadcast Project Group.
ADSIF co-ordinator Tim O’Keefe said that Australia had lost its world-leading position in the development of broadcast-based mobile TV. To overcome this situation, they want the federal Government to sell one of Australia’s two spare digital TV channels for mobile broadcast. “Our representations to Government have been about trying to decouple the idea of having channel A (originally mooted for narrowcast TV services) and channel B (planned for mobile TV) as the one package and move ahead of the allocation of the mobile licence,” Mr O’Keefe said.
