 Movistar instigates 3G services in Panama

The Spanish incumbent Movistar launches 3G services on Panama. The network infrastructure was provided by Nokia Seimens Networks to Movistar. The initial coverage will be limited to Tocumen, located northeast of Panama City, and will then reach to the capital. The company will offer to postpaid subscribers broadband plans ranging from US$29.95/month with a 1Gb download limit to US$49.95 with a 5Gb download limit. 3G for prepaid Movistar subscribers will be launched in next few week.

   

 U Mobile offers free calls and 1 sen/SMS with no activation fee (Malaysia)

U Mobile, Malaysia, launches new mobile tariffs catering to great savings for its subscribers. U Mobile offers, its new and existing prepaid and postpaid subscribers includingwho switch to U Mobile using MNP, will enjoy free U Mobile-to-U Mobile calls and pay only 1 sen/SMS to other U Mobile subscribers and that too without any additional activation or fee and existing prepaid, U38, U68 and U98 subscribers will automatically enjoy the benefits.
The offer is valid till December31, 2008 and the benefits will be available till March31, 2009.

“Being a dynamic and forward-looking mobile service provider, we understand and make every effort to see to the requirements of Malaysian mobile phone users by offering market-leading features in the services provided such as free calls. U Mobile subscribers can get more friends and family members to join the network and enjoy the benefits of this offer,” says U Mobile chief executive officer Oh Kwang-Jin.
Apart from personal mobile users this new offering will also benefit the SMEs causing greater savings in telecommunication expense.
“In the current economic scenario, businesses, especially SMEs, would need to be extra mindful of the costs they incur in the course of doing business. Every single sen counts and our latest offer can go a long way towards helping them keep their telecommunication costs down,” Oh said.
U Mobile prepaid subscribers will enjoy up to 60 minutes of free calls a day, while U38, U68 and U98 postpaid plan subscribers can enjoy a maximum of 30 hours of free calls a month.

Additionally, U Mobile also introduces new 3G handset bundles for its U38, U68, and U98 postpaid plans, where all new subscribers have the option of purchasing a 3G handset from a range of models offered at attractive prices.

   

 Mobily offers 70% free credit on recharge of SR60 or more (Saudi Arabia)

Mobily launches a brand new offer for its pre-paid susbcribers, excluding the Rehal subscribers, which allows them to enjoy nearly 70% free credit when they recharge their subscription for SR60 or more. The offer will be available till November 9.
“Mobily aims to provide a great deal of offers to its subscribers for them to enjoy the best rates,” said David Murphy, chief marketing officer. “This offer gives prepaid subscribers the highest bonus credit in the Kingdom on their individual phone lines, with the subscribers being the primary beneficiaries of the extra credit upon recharging.”
He also says that the subscribers can utilize their extra credit to make voice and video calls, send SMS messages and surf the Internet. The extra credit should be used up within 90 days of getting it.
